Young teen slashed by scissors

A 14-year-old boy was admitted to Letterkenny General Hospital in the early hours of yesterday (Saturday) morning with slash wounds believed to be inflicted on him with a pair of scissors.

The youth, understood to be from the town, it was claimed was involved in a fracas in Glencar area around 2.30am

Reports suggest there was an earlier incident involving a number of young people and a man believed to be in his 40s.

After it had died down an individual returned and it started up again and a pair of scissors was produced.

The 14-year-old was allegedly slashed four or five times.

He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for the wounds.

A spokesman for the Garda Press Office yesterday confirmed the incident had taken place and added that the 14-year-old had received a “number of minor stab wounds to the upper part of his body but these were not life threatening.”

He added investigations ino the matter were ongoing and local CCTV footage was being examined last night.
