Two charged following Letterkenny party

Two people have been charged with criminal damage when they appeared at Buncrana District Court last Thursday and a further four have been released on bail to appear at Letterkenny District Court on Monday week, October 24 following an incident that seen gardaí under attack at Thornberry in Letterkenny earlier that morning.

Household furniture which included sofas, a bench and liquids were hurled at gardaí when up to 14 people barricaded themselves inside a house as they attempted to resist arrest. Up to 20 gardaí from different parts of the county were drafted in, some wearing wearing protective clothing, to an incident senior gardai described as being one of the worst in the county in recent times.

It is understood that there no gardaí were injured in the incident that took place around 5.30am. Gardai received a call in relation to an alleged assault and the entire situation escalated when they arrived. Gardai had to force entry to the house by smashing through the mahogany door at the front of the premises. The incident has shocked the quiet Mountain Top locality that reside in the quiet estate.
