Fire crews called to Letterkenny blaze

Emergency services were called out to the scene of a fire in the heart of Letterkenny town yesterday afternoon. A student who resides in the Burnside Apartments at Lwr. Main Street, said she noticed a fire started in one of the houses across from her and taking decisive action she immediately called the fire services at around 2pm.

Main Street, said she noticed a fire started in one of the houses across from her and taking decisive action she immediately called the fire services at around 2pm.

Motorists and locals stopped to watch the smoke bellow from the front window of a second floor apartment. Gardaí were also on the scene.

The area was cordoned off for a short time and many residents stood back as firemen assessed the damage and took action to combat the fire.

Yesterday evening, gardai confirmed that it was a single apartment fire and reported there were no injuries as a result.

Investigations into the cause of the fire were last night underway.
