A successful fund raising night for Letterkenny based charity group, Halo, managed to raise over a thousand for the group.

Halo was founded by Edna Meehan from Raphoe in August 2009 and they help provides holistic therapies for people with depression and suicidal feelings.

Recently Halo member Ann Marie Brownlie staged a very successful fund raising dance that managed to raise €1,181.

Ann Marie explains how the event came about.

“When I first became aware of the Halo Charity I had no idea how things would turn out. I had been on a course which I hoped would help me get a job and one day it was suggested by Work Link that I might try Halo. I was going through a bit of a low time and they offered to help me get over it and they did,” she said.

Following the success of her involvement with the group she decided to do something for the charity in return.

“They impressed me so much I decided to do something to help them in return, so with the help of a few friends I organised a couple of fund raising event. The owner of the Oldtown Bar in Letterkenny very kindly sponsored the use of the lounge, a band and finger food for us to hold a very successful dance. Other sponsors provided items for a raffle on the night and there was ten prizes won. I would like to thank everyone of our sponsors for making it such a successful double event, raising €1,181 for the Halo Charity,” she added.
