There were 16 patients waiting on trolleys at Letterkenny General Hospital on Tuesday, figures show this week.
A spokesperson for the H.S.E. said yesterday there was “no particular reason” for the increase. “It just happened to be a busy day,” she indicated.
The spokesperson dismissed suggestions that an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug had led to the increase.
On Friday last the figures for Letterkenny Hospital showed four waiting on trolleys while yesterday, the numbers had reduced from the previous day down to two.
Sligo Hospital, meanwhile, had six patients on trolleys yesterday, the figures from the Irish Nurses & Midwives Organisation reveal.
