A meeting between a Donegal cancer services group and the North’s first minister has been postponed due to

the death of PSNI officer Ronan Kerr in Omagh on Saturday.

A delegation from Co-operating for Cancer care North West (CCCNW) were due to meet Peter Robinson yesterday morning in Belfast to discuss the provision of a cross border radiotherapy unit at Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry to serve the north west.

Last month the North’s health minister took the decision to postpone plans for a new radiotherapy unit at

Altnagelvin Hospital in Londonderry.

Michael McGimpsey said the North’s Assembly had not given him enough money in his budget to run the

cancer treatment centre which is be partly funded by the Republic’s government.

Noelle Duddy of CCCNW said the meeting is to be re-arranged.
