A new low hit Donegal Town at the weekend after Gardai confirmed they were investigating a burglary at a local charity shop.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning at approximately 2.30am. Callous thieves forced their way into the popular premises on Water Street, opposite Spar Supermarket and close to the Ulster Bank on Main Street. Thieves made off with a small sum of cash. Gardai have appealed for information.
“This was a particularly low mark, as so many good people are involved there in a voluntary capacity. The shop survives on donations from the general public and we would be appealing to anyone who might have some information, no matter how irrelevant, to contact the local garda station on (074) 9740190 ,” Sgt Tony Curneen told the Democrat.
Elsewhere in Donegal Town over the weekend, Gardai recovered a high powered motor cycle stolen during a burglary in the early hours of Saturday morning from a private residence in the Drumrooske area. The theft is still under active investigation.
