Joint chairmen of the 2011 Mary from Dungloe Festival, John Gorman and Mark Sharkey, are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the area when events begin on Saturday.

“This year we have placed a great emphasis on family activities and we hope that you find something for all ages. Our headlining concert with The Coronas will undoubtedly please all ages and La Gaelach will be as lively as ever,” John said.

Mark added: “We are delighted to welcome our 2011 Mary’s to Dungloe this year and extend a special welcome to our reigning Mary from Dungloe Jemma Ferry with great pride. Jemma has been a fantastic ambassador for the festival, for Dungloe and for County Donegal.”

The committee also welcome their returning funding bodies Donegal County Council and Fáilte Ireland, sponsor Randox Laboratories Ltd, the local traders, McGurks Funfair, Rosses CDP and Ionad Teampall Chróine and those who work hard throughout the world to promote the festival and select Marys to represent them at the festival each year.

This years organisers have a simple message who travel west this summer: “Enjoy the programme of events and please encourage your family and friends to come along.”
