Donegal has been hit by three tragedies which have left families on both sides of the border grieving.

In the latest tragedy 26-year-old Deirdre Burke of Drimarone, Donegal Town died in a collision, between a van and a car at 9.40am yesterday at Ardlenagh, just a few kilometres south of Donegal Town.

Her death followed that of 35-year-old Letterkenny man Brian McIntyre who died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin on Saturday evening a week after falling from a bicycle in the town. His funeral is to take place tomorrow.

Meanwhile searches are to resume today for Derry teenager Sean McNair who went missing from Rathmullan pier in the early hours of Saturday morning. The alarm was raised at 1.30 on Friday and searches on beaches on both sides of the lough have been under way since. Conditions yesterday were hampering the operation with divers unable to assist due to strong currents. Mr. McNair’s mother Jackie resumed her vigil at the pier yesterday as the search continued for her only son. “I just want him home,” she said.
