A Ballybofey woman has died following a fire in an apartment block in Dublin at the weekend.

29-year-old Breda Doherty (Callaghan), originally from Curraghamone, is believed to have been the only occupant of the apartment at Temple Place, just off Grenville Street, when the blaze broke out.

The body of the woman was removed from the scene by firemen and her remains taken to the city morgue shortly after 1.30.a.m. on Saturday morning.

Five fire engines tended to the scene which was later sealed off as forensic experts examined the building.

A spokesman at the Garda Press Office confirmed yesterday that investigations into the fire were continuing.

It is understood that Ms. Doherty, who has a twelve year old daughter, was in Dublin for a job interview.

A post mortem was held yesterday and the body was due to be removed to Ballybofey today.

Funeral arrangements had yet to be finalised at the time of going to press.
