McBrearty new chair of Stranorlar electoral area

Raphoe based Labour Party Councillor, Frank McBrearty, is the new Chairman of Stranorlar Electoral Area.

Raphoe based Labour Party Councillor, Frank McBrearty, is the new Chairman of Stranorlar Electoral Area.

He was nominated by Cllr. Patrick McGowan and seconded by Cllr. Martin Harley at Tuesday mornings electoral area committee meeting that took palce in Stranorlar Civil Defence headquarters.

He replaces Cllr. Harley who thanked all the members for their help and support during his chairmanship and he wished the new chairman all the best for the year ahead.

Cllr. McBrearty thanked his colleagues for their support and said he was hoping to be able to “accommodate them as much as possible and try be as fair as possible”.

He said not only was it his first time to chair the local authority but it was his understanding it was also the first time a Labour Party member chaired Stranorlar EA.
