New honours degree at IT Sligo designed to fast track accounting careers
A new three-year BA (Hons) in Accounting being offered at IT Sligo provides one of the fastest routes to a professional career in accounting. The course has been designed to maximise exemptions from professional accounting examinations.
Head of Department of Information Systems, Keith McManus, said that the course is a wise choice for students who are keen to get started in their accounting career;"Our new Honours Degree has been structured to allow students to receive their degree in three years and maximise exemptions from professional accounting qualifications."
"At a time when job prospects are precarious in many professions, an accounting degree offers students an opportunity to graduate with tangible skills that can be easily transferred to a variety of job scenarios. It's a great job to travel with as well."
IT Sligo was awarded ‘Most Improved Institute' in the 2011 Sunday Times University League Table, which recognised it as a ‘catalyst for attracting smart jobs to the region."
The Institute is celebrating its 40thanniversary this year and it underwent a €12 million development programme in the last 12 months, including the new Yeats Library, a new Technology Building, and an extension to its sports facilities including floodlighting and an Astroturf pitch.
