When it comes to innovation and putting all the talk of doom and gloom aside the Killybegs Women’s Group do not need to study any economic theories - they just get out there and do it.

With their main objective to better the lives of the women in the area in every aspect, they took it upon themselves to write to Sex in the City star Sarah Jessica Parker in the hope that she might donate something for one of their fundraising evenings.

At their recent “Here come the ladies”, the group announced that they had received something very special from the star who spends a lot of time in her home near Kilcar but that it would be kept under wraps until all was finalised.

The innovative ladies revealed all to this newspaper last weekend when they announced that SJP had donated one of her treasured designer handbags with a signed “buckslip” and displayed the Fedex Package and all the documentation last weekend on the Pier in the fishing port.

Carol McClean told this newspaper, “Never did we expect such a generous donation - we are absolutely thrilled. This will go a long way to raising some much needed funds for the group.

“I was totally taken by surprise - at 11.55 I received a text from Fedex saying that a delivery would be coming to my house at 14.30 - I contacted all the girls and we agreed to meet in Annie’s kitchen at 15.00 hrs.

“True to their word Fedex delivered spot on time - Le Bag had arrived!”

None of the girls wanted to take responsibility for such a valued item and collector’s piece so they placed it in the very safe custody of the Killybegs Gardai who have been most obliging.

Carol describes the bag as a “Classic” piece - very much one for the big, dressy occasion and will reveal the contents to this newspaper in our Thursday edition.

“This will be a superb fundraiser - we intend to sell tickets nationally and at only €5 per ticket we expect a huge demand from all over the country.

“Just where would you get a Sarah Jessica Parker hand bag for just €5 except in Killybegs?”

See next Thursday’s edition when all will be revealed.
