Donegal is set to receive a funding boost of €4.18 million for work on the county’s roads.

Donegal County Council will receive an additional €4.18 million in funding under the Restoration Improvement Grant Allocations, bringing the total allocation for such improvements this year to €14.344 million, the second highest of any county council in the country.

Minister of State Dinny McGinley welcomed the announcement for the additional funding for Regional and Local Roads. Donegal County Council received the second highest additional allocation of any county under the Restoration Improvement Grant.

“The additional allocation to Donegal will go a long way to improving the road conditions in Donegal, which have been deteriorating rapidly over the past two years due to the inclement weather,” Minister McGinley stated.

The extra allocation will also maintain employment and has the possibility of creating much needed jobs in the area, he added.
