Cooking up a storm at 'Smuggler's'

Donegal is fastly developing an enviable reputation nationally for it's top class cuisine and indeed quality of product and one Donegal chef will soon be competing on a world stage as she holds the Donegal flag high.

Award Winning Head Chef Deirdre Clinton from Smuggler's Creek in Rossnowlagh is part of Team Ireland that will participate in the Restaurant of Nations competition organised by the international renowned Panels of Chefs at this year's CATEX exhibition in Dublin. Deirdre and her team members will be competing with chefs from Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Iceland and Canada to defend their Restaurant of Nations title from 2009.

Competing for the top place, the teams will be going head to head in a cook off over the three days and will be showing their skills in glass-fronted kitchens which will cater for 80 covers each day.

Smuggler's Creek Chef Terri Gallagher, recently graduated from Killybegs Tourism College, under the support and guidance of Award Winning Chef Joe Clinton, will also be competing in the prestigious Gastro Pub Main Course and Cold Terrine competitions.

In order to win, Terri has to compete using her own original recipes together with ingredients and equipment showcasing all her skills in the culinary art.

Proprietor Emily Browne and General Manager Mark Rush will be at CATEX in Dublin providing their full support to their chefs.
