As the county basked in glorious sunshine last weekend, singing sensation Susan Boyle visited west Donegal on her short weekend trip to the North West.
The “Britain’s Got Talent” star arrived into Derry Airport on Friday night accompanied by a female companion and the pair were chauffeured around the city in a ‘people carrier’ taking in a tour of the city’s famous walls.
The millionaire singer based herself at the Tower Hotel in the heart of the city and the star looked relaxed as she attended 10am mass at St. Columba’s Church at Long Tower on Easter Sunday and waved to passers by and spoke with fellow mass goers as she came out of the church.
“It’s great to be back in Ireland. I hope you are all keeping well. I’m having a really lovely time and the weather is great,” Susan told Mass-goers.
Later Susan visited west Donegal where her parents Bridget and Patrick are from and there is wide speculation that she also may have dropped in on the equally famous O’Donnell family in Kincasslagh.
Daniel developed a friendship with the Scottish singer in the last number of years and the have performed together on stage in Castlebar last year.
Prior to hitting the big time on the UK television show, Susan was a regular visitor to West Donegal and often sang with the choir at local Mass and indeed in many of the local houses in the area.
Declaring that along with France, Donegal is her favourite holiday destination surely must be music to the ears of Failte Irl. executives as they prepare to mount their Glasgow Live promotion.
