Tonight, Thursday, a household in the Leck area of Letterkenny, will mark a tragic milestone in the history of the town with the celebration of an anniversary mass remembering the four O’Donnell children and their babysitter who died in a fire twenty-five years ago last Tuesday.

Sharon (14), Joanne (11), Adrian (3) and twenty month old Kevin perished along with their 25 year old babysitter, Noreen O’Donnell from Navenny, Ballybofey, when the blaze broke out at 65 Ard O’Donnell on Saturday morning, April 26th, 1986.

Two and a half decades later the events of that fateful day continue to be remembered by family, friends and neighbours. And tonight Bishop Seamus Hegarty, a close friend of Joe and Angela O’Donnell, will celebrate the anniversary mass at their home in Leck at 7.30 p.m.
