Cinders delights at the Abbey Centre
Ballyshannon's first community panto in a number of years opened on Sunday night at the Abbey Arts Centre.
Theatre goers braved the slush and ice to make their way to the venue, where they were richly rewarded with a laugh a minute, all singing, all dancing night of entertainment.
Atchsen was a dream as Cinderella. She was perfectly cast and held the audience spellbound with her sweet singing voice. The Ugly Sisters, in contrast, didn't even have to open their mouths to get the desired reaction. One look at them was enough to leave the audience in stitches. Once the vision of the Two Lovely Ladies graced the stage, the audience were captivated. They were laughing and booing in turn at the antics of the pair - Chardonnay played by Frankie O Donnell and Chablis played by Michael Mc Loone Their double act timing and their comic delivery was the icing on the cake.
Barry Gallagher was a perfect Prince Charming, a polished performer with a distinct stage presence that commands. His duets with Cinderella and his solo song, Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone, had the audience in the palm of his hand. Ger Foy delivered with a sharp edge as the Stepmother while Ryan O Neill as the beleagured Father and Moya Ferguson as his ally Abigail offered perfectly underplayed performances. With a host of new energetic actors mostly new to the Abbey Arts Centre stage, this show has a tight-paced energy and will entertain all the family. The chorus, directed by Niamh Currid, and the dancers, choreographed by Suzanne, showcased the talents of new, emerging talent. Written directed and produced by Maura Logue, this fundraiser for the Abbey Arts Centre fully deserves your support. Book now on 071 985 1375.
