Christmas cheer at Scoil Mhuire, Glenties
Family and friends of everyone at Scoil Mhuire, Glenties got Christmas off to a great start on Tuesday, December 14th. The snow and ice melted just in time for the school's Annual Christmas Carol Service, which was a huge success. School Principal, Mrs Barbara Boyle said: "We were so lucky with the weather. The day was one of the very few without snow or ice, so we were able to go ahead as planned. The show itself was very, very enjoyable, with wonderful performances. All our pupils and teachers did us proud."
The school's gym was filled to capacity for what is always one of the highlights of the school calendar. The theme of this year's event was to spread the message of hope and joy at Christmas. Every single pupil at the school, from infants right up through to sixth class, took part in the production, which mainly featured well-loved Christmas carols and also included a bit of drama. Even the teachers did their bit on stage. The result was a delightful performance that put smiles on the faces of performers and audience alike.
In keeping with the festive spirit, there was a bit of a party afterwards, with refreshments, many of which were provided by parents. And there was a bit of a preview of Christmas morning itself, as there was a special prize draw - so some early presents for the lucky winners.
All in all it was a great day, and a wonderful start to the festive season.
