Two American tourists injured in serious road traffic collision in Donegal

Two American tourists have been hospitalised as a result of a road traffic collision which took place at Tirhomin this morning. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following what they describe as a 'serious traffic collision' in the county.

The collision occurred shortly after 10am on the R246 at Tirhomin between Milford and Kerrykeel.

A man aged in his 30s and woman in her 20s were seriously injured when their car collided with a lorry.

They were taken by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital. It is understood that the male has since been transferred to Beaumont hospital. 

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The crash site has been examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the investigation is ongoing.
