The New Year got off to an especially exciting start for Leanne Kearney of Ardfoyle, Moville who won €18,000 on the National Lottery Winning Streak Game Show on RTE last Saturday night.

Leanne, who is engaged to Sean McDaid, is in her final year studying Law at the he Letterkenny Institute of Technology.

Her mother Kathleen was in the audience to cheer Leeane on. Her late father was also there in spirit because she brought along a little teddy bear that she gave him for Father’s Day. She always brings it with her to exams for good luck.

Leanne purchased the scratch card herself but mixed up her days because of the Christmas holidays and missed the show, so she didn’t realise her name had been pulled to appear on last Saturday’s show. Her phone rang with the news and neighbours ran in to her tell her as well. She says it was a fantastic experience.

Leanne spends a lot of her time studying but she enjoys socialising and following Gaelic football in her free time.

She wants to use her winnings to help her study further and do a Masters in Human Rights. She would also like to treat her mother to a car and, if there is any extra, she will put it towards her forthcoming wedding!
