Donegal’s Tobin’s Topaz forecourt and Spar in Letterkenny, has beaten off stiff competition from hundreds of excellent Irish businesses in their bid to go for gold at this year’s National Q Mark Awards.

The prestigious nomination will see Annette Tobin, the business’ Director and her team donning their tuxedos and evening gowns to be photographed by the paparazzi, as they walk the red carpet at this year’s star-studded Q Mark ceremony, which takes place on September 28th at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel.

At the announcement of finalists at EIQA House in Dublin, the team from Tobin’s, who won the national award in 2011, were being tipped as being the hot contenders to win one of the most prestigious categories; The Q Mark Award for Hygiene and Food Safety. The award honours businesses for their achievement in being recognised as having the highest standard of Hygiene and Food Safety in the country.

Tobin’s Service station is a family run business established in 1980. They actively support their local community and currently sponsor St Eunan’s GAA under age teams, Letterkenny Rugby under 17 team, Ballyraine FC under 10‘s, and The Letterkenny Post Office Annual Charity Cycle Run. They also sponsor promising local athletes, cyclists Conor McElwaine and Conor Brennan and tri-athlete Kirsty McElwaine.

On hearing of their nomination for what are known as the ‘Oscars’ of business excellence, Annette Tobin said, “We are delighted to be nominated again this year for the National Q Mark Award. We continue to strive to deliver the highest quality and standards possible in our business, which we believe gives us a competitive edge over others and stands us in good stead for the future”.
