The latest musical from Rosses Community School looks set to become its biggest hit yet.

Last night saw the first performance of ‘Back to the ‘80s: The Musical’ Ionad Spoirt na Rosann in Dungloe.

If you weren’t there, don’t hang about because there are only three nights left and they are bound to sell out very quickly.

The school already garnered great praise for its most recent musicals, ‘Hairspray’ and ‘Grease’ and ‘Back to the 80’s’ got an even more enthusiastic response last night.

This year’s show follows the graduating class of William Ocean High School in their final year. Set to some of the biggest hits of the 1980s, the show features a cast of 60 performers, including students from various years and members of the local community. In all, around 100 people are involved in various aspects of the production.

The show is co-directed by English teacher Daire Gillen, Business teacher Tara Duddy and Special Needs Assistant Suzanne Gallagher with the help of music teacher Edel McLaughlin as vocal coach.

The main roles, Cory and his love interest, Tiffany, are played by fifth-year students Patrick Gillespie and Zoe Gallagher.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the reaction to this year’s show already,” Mr Gillen said.

“Everyone has worked really hard since we started rehearsals away back in October. It’s wonderful to see it all coming together so well and audiences enjoying it so much.”

Tickets are available at the door, 10 euro per adult and 5 euro per child. Performances at 8pm.
