An illustrated presentation on the prehistoric rock art in County Donegal will take place in Letterkenny on March 18.
It will be presented by Carol Dempsey, Heritage Research Assistant, County Donegal Heritage Office, Donegal County Council in the Donegal County Museum, High Road, Letterkenny at 7 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public.
“Rock art is one of the earliest forms of artistic expression and a global phenomenon that has fascinated both scholars and the public alike for centuries” said Heritage Research Assistant, Carol. In Ireland, rock art sites are considered to be rare monument types found widely dispersed throughout the country. Surveys have recorded approximately 160 rock art panels in County Donegal with only a small number of scattered panels located outside the Inishowen Peninsula.
