With glorious sunshine and bumper crowds, this year’s Féile na Finne-Fintown Festival was an outstanding success. All the events on the weekend programme were enjoyed by a large crowd of locals and visitors alike.
It kicked off with the Highland Radio vs Fintown Harps match in Pairc Acla. The local celebrity, Michael Gallagher, performed the opening ceremony in Teach Jimmy, and the stage was set for fun, fun and more fun.
Saturday was all about sport, with the GAP CC cycle club running a 30k and 60k event, and the Gaeltacht Lár 5k for runners and walkers galore. Sunday was the Family Fun Day, with open air music, vintage tractors and cars, marching bands, Irish dancing, crafts by the Journey Men, and a céilí in Halla Cholmcille.
The Lord Mayor crowning dance in the Railway Inn was the icing on the cake, and Michelle McGlynn was crowned to a standing ovation. Monday wound down with a car tresure hunt and a Road Bowls competition organised by Micheal Mc Devitt.
The committee wish to thank everyone for all their support and help in making the festival an outstanding success, and they are already planning for 2013.
