Letterkenny student, 20-year-old Elaine Sweeney, made her modelling début this week on TV3’s Ireland AM programme, having reached the final of a national competition to find a new curvy fashion model to be the ‘Face of Tempted’, the leading plus-sized fashion chain.
Elaine, who is studying for a BA in Administrative Management at LYIT, loves fashion and clothes. She says that she entered the national plus-size modelling competition to show that being beautiful, fashionable, and most importantly happy, is very much possible, no matter what shape you are!
The TV3 modelling session, presented by Sinead Desmond, had stylist Cathy O’Connor talk through the latest range of summer fashion from Tempted, which has outlets in Carlow Shopping Centre, Wexford and Raheny in Dublin. Shopping is also available online at www.tempted.ie. Tempted is one of the leading Irish stores specialising in curvy sizes 16 to 28, and model Elaine Sweeney wore two gorgeous looks that were bang on trend – a dip hem maxi dress, and a fabulous kaftan with linen trousers.
The Tempted model search competition which Donegal’s Elaine Sweeney entered was designed to find a real woman, sized ‘16 plus’, to represent Tempted and the majority of Irish women who don’t relate to the mainstream fashion trend of size 8, and smaller, models. Elaine was selected from hundreds of entrants for the finals.
She said: ““I found modelling in TV3 very exciting, and was very proud to show the Tempted range of clothes to other curvy ladies, showing how it is possible to be trendy, no matter what size you are. Being curvy and voluptuous, or being super slim, should not stop anyone from wearing whatever they want, as long as they feel good about themselves. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes!”
