The search is on to find Ireland’s Volunteer of the Year with the launch of the Panadol supported Volunteer Ireland Awards 2013.

The search is on to find Ireland’s Volunteer of the Year with the launch of the Panadol supported Volunteer Ireland Awards 2013.

“The awards celebrate the thousands of remarkable people who selflessly give their time and talent to benefit others and their communities,” John Curran, manager of the Donegal Volunteer Centre, said at the launch. Nominations are open, at www.volunteer.ie, until October 25.

There are ten categories - sports, arts, youth, environment, community, disability, education, social work, awareness raising and international development.

Winners in each category, and the overall winner, will be announced at a special awards ceremony on December

Also, one of the shortlisted 30 nominees will receive the Charity Hero Award, a lifetime achievement award given in conjunction with the Better Together campaign.

This award will be presented at the Better Together Awards ceremony in Dublin on December 12.
