Donegal group Clannad have been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk awards.

The group - which is comprised of siblings Moya, Ciaran and Pol Brennan, along with their uncles Noel and Padraig Duggan - performed at the awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The award was presented by Cara Dillon.

“We are very, very proud,” Pól told the audience.

“Little did we know when we started making music back in Donegal that we would travel the world and just to do what we do, what we love to do - sing music.”

The award was presented on Leo and Baba Brennan’s wedding anniversary and Moya dedicated it to her parents.
