A special mass took place in Kincasslagh recently to celebrate Fr Pat Ward’s 25 year silver jubilee of the priesthood.
The popular Fr Pat is Parish Priest in Kincassalagh which also covers Burtonport and his home place of Arranmore Island.
There was a great turn out for the event.
People from across the community gathered together to congratulate him on his milestone.
As a keen music fan it was fitting that he was greeted by the Arranmore Pipe band, Keadue band and the Crickamore band to mark the start of proceedings. Mass was then celebrated with retired Bishop Seamus Hegarty, Fr Matt McInerney, Fr. Seamus Gallagher, Fr Nigel Gallagher, Fr John Joe Duffy and Fr Meehan.
Following mass everyone went to nearby St Mary’s hall for refreshments and a get-together where Fr Pat was presented with gifts from the parish. In testament to the high regard he is held in his parish the hall was packed with all ages gathering to enjoy the social aspect of his quarter of a century milestone.
His friends, colleagues and family joined with parishioners and he spoke to the large gathering reflecting on his 25 years and he thanked them all for their generosity and support over the years. Fr Ward has been active in much charity work over the years and some of those who have benefitted include The Haiti Disaster Appeal, Dungloe Hospital and Saint Vincent de Paul.
