A young Ballyshannon girl who started studying Arts and Humanities and later switched to design has had her determination recognised.

After completing her Leaving Cert, Kayleigh Devanney from Ballyshannon went off to study Arts and Humanities in Dublin but after a few months realized that her heart wasn’t into it. Her real love was Art and Design and she got accepted into the NWRC in Derry.

Her mother Monica said, “She absolutely loves the college - the tutors in recognised her potential and have really developed and nurtured her creative ideas.”

This year this creative Ballyshannon girl has won best fashion student in the Derry 2013 City of Culture and also the Creative Industries Award at Stormont where she was presented with the award by Mark Durkan.
