Inver Drama Group’s latest offering, one of the best-loved musicals of all time, The Sound of Music, opened at Inver Community Centre last night.

The show, directed by Kay McAleavey, features Caithríona Williams from Donegal Town as Maria and Christopher Young (The Beast in IDG’s recent production of Beauty and The Beast) as Capt. Von Trapp.

Many IDG stalwarts are joined by new faces in the cast that includes Ann Marie McGroary as The Abbess, Ciara Lynch as Sr Bertha, Jayne Diamond as Sr Margaretta, Rachael Shovelin as Sr Sophia.

It’s the same great production team that brought you Annie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoats, and Beauty and the Beast.

Herta Kelly is musical director and Grainne Boyle is choreographer, with Mary Furey and Marie Gallagher sharing stage management duties.

With IDG having such a great reputation for their shows, it’s not surprising that last night’s premiere performance wowed the audience.

The show continues nightly to Sunday, doors open at 7.30pm, curtain at 8pm. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
