A very special Masterclass in ‘Building a business to support local people and deliver the taste of local food’ will be given this Saturday at the Abbey Arts Centre, Ballyshannon at 2pm.
The Masterclass, with Donal Doherty, proprietor and Raymond Moran, head chef, of the multi-award winning Harry’s Bar and Restaurant, Bridgend, will be followed by an eagerly anticipated tasting!
The decline in business and the increase in unemployment as a consequence of the current recession is a major concern to people and the business sector in many towns including Ballyshannon and its surrounds.
Acutely aware of these challenges, Allingham Arts Association has teamed up with Donegal Local Development Company Ltd. to provide a unique opportunity for people in the local community who are thinking of starting up their own business, as well as local food suppliers and existing restaurants and businesses.
This event is sure to whet your appetite, and provide you with food for thought whether you are considering starting your own business within the food sector or another area. If you are an existing business why not come along to learn how you might grow your business through diversification/specialisation, and discover your potential to create jobs and attract more visitors to the area?
Donal Doherty (pictured right) outlines his successful business model, demonstrating how he translated the idea of sourcing all the food for his restaurant locally. Based on this business model, Harry’s Bar and Restaurant is attracting custom, interest and support from far and wide.
The business model presentation will be followed by a cookery demonstration from Harry’s head chef Raymond Moran. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy food tasting, and sip a complimentary glass of wine!
