Greeting hundreds of young, and not so young, visitors to the Ardara Show on Saturday August 11th will be many of the characters from the world famous Toy Story.
In addition there will be a special arts and crafts camp for the children where they will be able to meet all their favourites while creating their own masterpieces to take home at the end of the day. Surrounded by white picket fencing, the area will be fully supervised and all the equipment necessary will be supplied free of charge. The characters will join later to present a magic show.
The attraction, presented by Corvvenieos Entertainments, is the latest to be added to the show’s ambitious programme marking its move for this year to the large scenic area available at Sandfield a few miles outside the town.
Recently published is the event’s 2012 prize schedule listing the 60 livestock classes, including a number of qualifiers for other top shows throughout the country, and the 130 classes housed in a giant marquee. Pulling the whole show together during the day, and keeping visitors informed, will be compere Gerry Singer.
Livestock judging will take place from 10am with some of the top cattle, sheep, horses and ponies from the county being put through their paces to an expected huge audience. The afternoon programme includes a display by Ukrainian Cossack horseman Sergiy Khimich, a key member of the Zaporozhian Cossack Show.
There will be a fun dog show, including a round of the All-Ireland Gun Dog Championship, a display by the Mid-West Donegal Vintage Club, tug-of-war, penalty shoot out for the Greenhouse Plaque, and a chance to meet and learn about birds of prey, children’s sports and trade stands.
