Glenties students in fashion final

Students from Saint Columba’s Comprehensive in Glenties have qualified for the prestigious Griffith College Reinvent Fashion Competition. The Students are tasked to research sustainable fashion and to design and construct one outfit using second hand garments to create a new piece of clothing.

Students from Saint Columba’s Comprehensive in Glenties have qualified for the prestigious Griffith College Reinvent Fashion Competition. The Students are tasked to research sustainable fashion and to design and construct one outfit using second hand garments to create a new piece of clothing.

The students will have their creations modelled on the Griffith College campus in Dublin on March 28 where five students will be shortlisted to compete in the final on May 23 at the Griffith College Creative Show. The Glenties students will face stiff competition from other students from around the country in transition, fifth and sixth year as well as FETAC courses.

Jane Leavey, head of Fashion Design at Griffith College said: “The Reinvent Fashion competition is something we very much look forward to in the design faculty. The talent and creativity in young designers never ceases to amaze us and each year we can spot Ireland’s designers of the future at this competition. Sustainable fashion is something we place high importance on in Griffith College and we feel its important for any student to understand this area and this competition certainly encourages them to do so,” she said.

Morgan The Agency will be on hand on March 28 to speak to the up and coming fashion designers and their models and they will also be scouting for any up and coming fashion models. For more information please log on to www.gcd.ie
