Ballyshannon woman, Judy Donagher, beat off stiff competition at the Woman’s Way event in the RDS to scoop the Best Dressed Lady last weekend and her style tip for all aspiring fashionistas is to shop local.

Judy bought all the winning items in her wardrobe at Geraldine Ógs and Slevin’s of Ballyshannon. “I bought the dress in Geraldine Ógs, on the main street in Ballyshannon. I bought the cardigan and dress in Slevin’s in Ballyshannon as well. I wouldn’t dream of shopping anywhere else when you can buy what you need at home. I put them together myself, it is a while since I bought them but when I am going somewhere, I like to get dressed up and have everything matching and right,” she said.

Judy’s daughter-in-law, Tina bought four tickets for the RDS Woman’s Way in Dublin and they made their way from Donegal and Mayo respectively to the well attended event. As they left their car, Judy felt a chill in the air, she casually threw her cardigan over her shoulders and fixed her matching scarf. It was early on Saturday and the place was busy. Inside there were stalls for products, candles, cosmetics, bags, jewellery and items that would be of interest to most women.

“There was a fashion show as well and we all enjoyed that. Two women won a make-over and we were shown the before and after which was fun. Then this lady came over and sat down beside me. I was absolutely shocked when she told me that I had won Best Dressed Lady. There was various things going on before the award was made to me by Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh,” she said.

Judy then took to the catwalk to display her wonderful attire of locally bought Ballyshannon ware and received a resounding round of applause from her family, friends and those who were present.

“In fairness I didn’t put that much effort in. On an ordinary day no-one would guess that I could have won such an award,” she said laughing.

Judy brought home a gift voucher for €50 for Peter Marks and a hamper of Avon products for her deserved win.
