Jedward look set to pip Donegal singer in Eurovision bid

Although Maria McCool from Gweedore is getting great feedback in this year’s Eurovision contest, bookies say Jedward are odds-on favourites to win through on Friday night.

Although Maria McCool from Gweedore is getting great feedback in this year’s Eurovision contest, bookies say Jedward are odds-on favourites to win through on Friday night.

If the predictions play out, the energetic pair will represent Ireland for the second consecutive year.

Punters have been backing the quiff-haired duo at all odds and Boylesports have been forced to cut their odds even further, from 1/3 into 1/4. Furthermore, Jedward are the 10/1 favourites to win the whole contest.

Their main competition will come from the direction of former Eurovision contestant, Donna McCaul. Her upbeat song ‘Mercy’ has drifted out to 4/1 from 3/1 as a result of the twin’s mass popularity in the betting.

Andrew Mann has opted for a slower track called ‘Here I Am’, but at 12/1 to represent Ireland, the talented performer has a lot to do.

Maria McCool and duo Una Gibney and David Shannon are lagging behind, with odds of 33/1 on offer for either act coming out on top during Friday night’s sing-off.

“Jedward went down a storm in Germany last year, shooting to stardom across Europe. Their whacky personalities have certainly proved popular, so this year they have a fantastic chance of bringing the title home”, commented Nicola McGeady, Boylesports PR Spokesperson.
