When people talk of football and Manchester normally one name immediately springs to mind - United but after last weekend, the sky blues across the city are now sharing the glory at Manchester City having captured the prestigious FA Cup.

Irish legend and Man. City’s goalkeeper, Lifford’s Shay Given had plenty of opportunity to celebrate over the weekend. But along with his wife Jane took some time out to host a Charity Event for Cancer along with a host of footballing stars and our very own Westlife. The money raised will go to the Macmillan Cancer Support, Beechwood Centre for Cancer Care in Stockport and the ‘Adopt a School’ project.

Supermodel Lily Cole took to the catwalk with Manchester City stars fresh back from the hallowed turf at Wembley also traded in their football boots and goalkeeping gloves for something a bit more stylish at the Selfridges sponsored Fashion Kicks charity fundraiser.

Selfridges supplied this season’s stunning designer collections to the aspiring models from Manchester City Football Club who were put through their paces by international model Lily Cole and proved themselves equally as good on the catwalk as the football pitch.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by singing sensation Alexandra Burke who sprang to fame after winning the X-Factor and her subsequent hit, the Leonard Cohen classic, “Halleluiah”

Lily Cole who modelled an exquisite Alexander McQueen dress, said: “Im really excited to be a part of Fashion Kicks as it is always important to raise awareness and money for worthy charities, and it’s great that so many people are dedicating their time to the event.”

Shay Given himself modelled two looks including a D - Squared Navy Bomber Jacket, D Squared Check Polo Shirt and Denham Jeans while his teammate and England goalkeeper Joe Hart modelled a Belstaff Jacket, Marc by Marc Jacobs Khaki Shirt and J Brand Jeans.

Football stars Steve McManaman, Kevin Davies and Gary Speed all attended the event to show their support for this very worthwhile charity event and it goes without saying that one very impressive piece of silverware was also in attendance at the glitzy event on Sunday night - the FA Cup !

Westlife’s Nicky Byrne and Shane Filan and their wives travelled over to the event at the Lancashire Cricket ground to support fellow Irishman and good friends Shay and Jane.

A host of other stars also attended including Coronation Street’s Brooke Vincent and Jennie McAlpine.

All funds raised on the night will be distributed between the aforementioned charities.

In its eight year history, Fashion Kicks has raised more than £900,000 for worthy causes and on Sunday night it crashed through the £1m barrier with a little help from one of Donegal’s most popular figures.
