One of Donegal’s best known coach and tour service operators, Mangan Tours, has revealed details of a new initiative to promote Donegal at home and abroad.

One of Donegal’s best known coach and tour service operators, Mangan Tours, has revealed details of a new initiative to promote Donegal at home and abroad.

Donegal Tours is a ‘Day Tours’ programme accessible to visitors who would like to discover the county’s magic scenery and rich Donegal heritage. But it is also designed for locals who would like to see more of our beautiful county.

The proactive and much-needed initiative is set to provide a new platform to promote the Donegal brand locally and at international level. It also comes at a time when tourist operators across Ireland are promoting the new concept of ‘staycation’ whereby people are encouraged to holiday at home.

Mangan Tours boss Joseph Mangan explained, “The tours will offer everyone, visitors and locals alike, the chance to come across spectacular views, friendly communities and distinctive heritage. We want to make sure that our tailor-made tours and service routes will suit everyone.  It will be a real chance for people to re-discover our scenic coastlines and the unspoiled beauty of mountains without having to drive around themselves. It’s like a holiday at home!”

The new organised tours will offer great exposure for county Donegal and will create value for all participants at local level, generating business for business providers, retailers and local tourism. It will provide the much needed tourist link from Letterkenny to Glenveagh, Dunlewey, Ardara, Slieve League, Inishowen, and The Giant’s Causeway.

The official launch of Donegal Tours will take place on Sunday the 22nd of May at Donegal Live in the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin. The event will also mark the official launch of the official Donegal Tours website.

The “Donegal Tours” programme kicks off on “Whit Weekend”, Friday 3rd June, and will offer day tours to different destinations every day from Monday to Saturday including, Glenveagh National Park & Castle, Dunlewey Lakeside Centre, Dunfanaghy Workshouse, Ards Forest Park, Donegal Town, Killybegs Harbour, Glengesh & Slieve League, Ardara, The Giant’s Causeway, Inishowen Peninsula & Malin Head, Doagh Famine Village, and An Grianan Aileach.

Their core business “Mangan Tours” coach holidays is experiencing a very busy season with seats being snapped up and tours are selling out fast. Joseph explained “So far it’s looking like a great season with some tours already sold out including our Austria tour, our Belgium tour, & our New York tour. Others are filling fast so if anyone is thinking of booking, we would advise to book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment”.

They also recently secured a 12-month hire contract for two of their vehicles with one of the top coach companies in Ireland, Callinan Coaches, a testament to the luxury standard and finish of their vehicles.
