A great gig is in store on Wednesday night at The Balor as Petunia & The Vipers bring their own brand of rockabilly blues to Donegal.

There’s a great gig in store at The Balor, Ballybofey on Wednesday night, with the amazing Petunia & the Vipers on their first ever Irish tour.

They’re a 5-piece band described as a ‘Canadian Folk Legend in the Making’. Already huge in their native Canada, when they crossed the border last year, they made real waves on the West Coast USA folk and roots scene. In one memorable LA gig, Phil Alvin of the Blasters loved the show so much he jumped on stage and sang along.

Go to one of their gigs and it’s easy to see why they’ve made such an impact. This is a rockin’ stompin’ band with Petunia on lead vocals and guitar joined by the four Vipers on lead guitar, pedal steel, double bass and drums. They flew in from Vancouver last week to headline at the 1,000-capacity Old Fruit Market in Glasgow as one of the main attractions of the Celtic Connections festival. They’ve carried on throughout the UK drawing full houses and rave reviews on their current UK tour.

Their unbelievable combination of rockabilly with gypsy flavours, country blues and Tex-Mex rhythms with honest, cut to the heart, song writing will leave you flat out enthralled and breathless.

Petunia & The Vipers play a gig you won’t want to miss at The Balor next Wednesday at 8.30pm. Tickets €15 from the Balor Box Office on 074 913 1840 or online at www.balorartscentre.com.
