Apart from Jim McGuinness and his heroic Donegal team I’d say the happiest man last Sunday was former Revs frontman Rory Gallagher from Kilcar.

By Conor Malone, Arts Correspondent

Thanks to Donegal’s sensational win, Rory now has another three weeks for his ‘Jimmy’s Winning Matches’ tune to get the attention and sales that it richly deserves.

Quite frankly, it’s brilliant. It’s insanely catchy with just the right amount of not taking itself too seriously. Sports songs don’t often do it for me but I’d rank this up there with the legendary ‘Put ‘Em Under Pressure’ as my favourite sports related tune. I’ve taught it to the kids at home and everything.

Unless you’ve been living in a cave with no radio, TV or computer for the last few weeks you’re familiar with the song. The original version recorded on a Lanzarote beach is up to 180,000 youtube hits at the time of writing. Rory has also recorded a studio version and both versions are available on itunes and cdbaby.com.

By the looks of things the entire county will be singing this come the third Sunday in Sep
