Harvest Celebrations at Kee’s Garden Centre
Harvest Celebration Day at Kee’s Laghey was a great success and ended on a high note with a fantastic cookery demonstration by chef Zack Gallagher.
The popular event is organised each year by Robert Kee Garden Centre in Laghey to highlight all the wonderful fruit and vegetables that we can grow for ourselves and to share some tips on great ways to prepare them for family and friends.
A number of exhibitors shared their growing experiences and presented their fresh produce on the day. The lucky winner of the Grow Your Own competition was Mary Henderson from Donegal Town who won a €300 voucher to spend at Robert Kee Garden Centre.
Zack Gallagher, who is founder of one of the most popular cookery blogs about Irish food (irishfoodguide.ie), delighted the crowd with an informative and entertaining cookery demonstration. Of the course of two hours, he made a number of delicious dishes and shared his secrets for making the very best sliced potatoes with garlic sauce, BBQ sauce, apple & rhubarb crumble and red onion marmalade. The audience picked up lots of useful cooking tips, they thoroughly enjoyed Zack’s many funny cooking stories from his life in professional kitchens. Everyone also relished the chance to taste what Zack had prepared during his demonstration. Everyone who came thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
