Donegal band in Arthur’s Day competition - voting closes next Monday
IN THEIR THOUSANDS - Ruairi Friel, Aidan McClafferty, Declan McClafferty and Liam Kelly
One of Donegal’s hottest bands, In Their Thousands, have made it through to the second stage of the Guinness Arthur’s Day - Play on the Day competition.
The competition, supported by Hot Press and RTÉ 2fm, formed an integral part of this year’s Guinness Arthur’s Day celebrations.
The prize for the National Winners will include: a special Flip Cover of Hot Press including a full professional photo session and interview; a full three-day recording session with a senior Record Producer in RTÉ studios; an in-studio session for broadcast by RTÉ 2fm; the release of a single, with no strings attached; a place for a band member/manager on Hot Press’ MIX course including consultation with industry experts; thousands of euro worth of top of the range musical instruments and equipment; and publicity on Guinness Ireland’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
A huge number of bands and artists submitted tracks and In Their Thousands impressed the judges enough to be short-listed as one of the Ulster Finalists.
Now, it’s up to you - because the next stage will be decided by public voting, which opened last Friday and continues through to next Monday.
Tracks from all of the shortlisted bands and artists can now be heard at playontheday.
Members of the public, who must be over 18 to vote, can vote in all four regions - North, East, South and West and Mid-West - with a maximum of one vote per region. Four acts in each region will be voted through to the Regional Finals. There will be four regional winners, who will then compete for the ultimate prize in the National Final.
