Some young artist will be provided with the opportunity of a lifetime as the first heat of Opportunity Knocks takes to the stage in Donegal Town’s Central Hotel on Saturday night.

Eamonn Gillespie, the brains behind the talent show has said that he is delighted with the response to date.

Speaking to the Donegal Democrat he said, “We have a total of seven heats, two semi finals and then the Grand Final on April 1st. in our sister hotel, The Abbey.

“To be quite honest I have been amazed at the depth of talent that is in this area - many of these competitors would do us proud on “The Voice” or “The X-Factor”. To date I have had to turn away seven acts as we just had not got enough places available.

“I have also been extremely fortunate in securing three of the best judges available - the well known country singer Susan McCann, television personality Brian Ormond and Donegal’s Eurovision star, Mickey Joe Harte.

“We are offering a total prize fund of €10,000 - €5,000 for the winner, €3,000 for second and €2,000 for third place.

“Doors will be open at 7.15 pm with the show commencing at 8.00 pm sharp. We are really looking forward to a great night’s entertainment and ask people along to support their favourite acts. “Admission is €10 for adults and €7.50 for children.
