Maura Gallagher: The death occurred at St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin on Saturday week, 23rd January last of Mrs. Maura Gallagher, Avondale, Rathdrum, Wicklow. Aged 61 years, her husband, Andy Gallagher is originally from Stranabrooey, Derrybeg
. Maura (née Mulryan), was formerly from Fohenagh, Caltra, Co. Galway. She was waked at her home in Avondale. Her remains were removed to St. Mary and Michael's Church, Rathdrum on Monday evening January 25th.
Requiem Mass was celebrated at 11.00am
on Tuesday and her remains were removed afterwards to St. Mary's Church, Derrybeg. Her interment took place to Magheragallon cemetery on Wednesday after 11.00am Requiem Mass. She is survived by her husband, Andy; daughter Fíonaid, two brothers and a sister, family circle and relatives to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.

Table Quiz: At the weekly Cumann na gCurach table quiz in Teach Sheain Óig, Middletown on Thursday night the senior section was won by a team consisting of Michael Roarty, Michael Danny Minnie, Dónal Curran and Danny Boyle. The novice section was won by a team of Sheila Curran, Patrick McGarvey, Claire McCole and Renate McCole. The quiz will be held again in Teach Sheáin Óig on Thursday night.

Whist Drive: At the whist drive held in Scoil Mhuire, Derrrybeg on Monday 26th January, Paddy McGeady, Gortahork, with a score of 172 points won top score prize. First ladies prize with a score of 171 points was won by Georgina Nic Giolla Bhríde, Meenaniller and second ladies prize with a score of 164 points went to Mary Mulligan, Magheraclogher.
First gent's prize with 169 points was won by Charlie Gallagher, Gortahork and second gent's prize with a score of 167 points went to Dan Rua Gallagher, Stranacorkra. Mary McGinley, Machaire Rabhartaigh with a score of 92 points had the highest score in the first half, while Kathy Mulhern, Gortahork, with 93 points had the highest score in the second half. The whist will be held again in Scoil Mhuire on Monday night and everyone is welcome.

Raphoe Diocesan Lourdes Fund: In the recent church gate collection in aid of the Raphoe Diocesan Lourdes Fund taken up in the parish, the total sum raised amounts to 505 euro. The organisers wish to thank everyone who contributed and all those who helped with the collection.
Patrick Doogan: Deeply regretted is the death of Patrick Doogan, Meenacladdy which occurred recently. Patrick who was aged 74 years at the time of his death, was better known in the locality as Patrick Neddie John.
The deceased was a kind and highly respected member of the community and he will be sadly missed by his family circle and many friends in the locality. There was a very big turnout at both his wake and funeral, which was a clear indication of the high esteem in which he was held.
His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola and afterwards he was interred in the nearby cemetery. He is survived by one sister, Brigid; family circle, relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.

Mickey McCloskey: The death of Mickey McCloskey, which occurred recently, caused deep regret in the locality.
A son of the late Jimmy McCloskey and Gráinne (née Coyle), the deceased and his late wife spent many years living in Coventry. His mother died when he was only a child and he was reared by his uncle, Mickey Coyle and his wife in Bunaninver.
When he retired from working in Coventry he moved to live in Bunaninver. The deceased was a kind and a very friendly individual and he will be sadly missed. He was waked at his home and there was a very big turnout at both his wake and funeral, a very clear indication of the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
His funeral mass was celebrated in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola and the main celebrant was Fr. Donnchadh Ó Baoill, C.C., Cnoc Fola and con celebrant was Fr. Michael Sweeney, P.P., Gaoth Dobhair.
He was interred in Cnoc Fola cemetery. Pre-deceased by his wife, he is survived by his sons, Tommy, Jimmy, Michael and Johnny and by his daughters, Mary, Angela and Geraldine; in-laws, grandchildren, family circle, relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.
Credit Union Quiz: This year's Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union Quiz for national schools held in the Cúirt Hotel, on Monday night proved highly successful with 24 teams competing and as usual the standard was exceptionally high. First in Section A with 64 points was Scoil Naomh Dubhthach, Machaire Rabhairtaigh.
On the team were: Cameron Mac Uillín, Cian Ó Cattersúin, Róisín Nic Aodha and Enrí Ó Briain. 2nd in this section with 62 points was Scoil Oilibhéir Pluincéid Naofa, Rann na Feirste. Members of the team were: Donnchadh Ó Lathusaigh, Ailise Ní Ghrianna, John Mac Gairbhé, and Odhrán Mac Ruairí. First in Section B, with 100 points was Scoil Mhuire, Doirí Beaga.
