Ruby Wedding Anniversary: Well known Gaoth Dobhair couple, John and Máire (Joe) Diver, Lunniagh, Derrybeg celebrated their Ruby Wedding Anniversary with a big party in Teach Jack, Glassagh on Saturday night to celebrate their ruby wedding anniversary.
Mary Duggan: Widespread regret was occasioned by the death of Mary Duggan, 5 Lough Road, Milford, which occurred at Letterkenny General Hospital on Monday, 14 September. She was aged only 48 years at the time of her death and was a kind and gentle pe
rson who will be sorely missed by her family. Her husband, Dónall Duggan is a native of Meenacladdy. Her remains were removed from hospital to her home in Milford for waking. There was a very big turn out at removal of remains, also at her wake and funeral which was a clear indication of the high esteem in which Mary and her family are held. Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Peter's Church, Milford on Thursday at 3pm. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Simone (daughter), Joseph and Tony Duggan, (sons) and Damien McGeehan. The lessons were read by Mary Duggan (sister-in-law) and Jacqueline McAteer. Afterwards her remains were brought to Gaoth Dobhair for burial in Cnoc Fola Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Dónall; sons, Joseph and Tony; daughter, Simone; sisters, Sarah, Lizzy, Theresa and Anne from Milford; brothers, Francie and John McGinley, (Milford); family circle; relatives and friends, to all of whom deep sympathy is extended.

Wedding Bells: The wedding of Miss Kathleen Diver, Lunniagh, Derrybeg and Mr. Colin Fleming, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim took place at St. Mary's Church, Derrybeg on Friday, 21 August. Kathleen is a daughter of Mrs. Annie and the late Jimmy Diver, and Colin is a son of Mr. Patrick and Mrs. Kathleen Fleming. The wedding ceremony with Nuptial Mass and Papal Blessing was performed by Fr. Michael Sweeney, P.P., Gaoth Dobhair. Bestman was Blain Fleming (brother of the groom), and the groomsmen were, Gerry, Danny and Willie Diver (brothers of the bride). The maid of honour was Denise Coll (niece of the bride) and the bridesmaids were, Eileen Diver, Lorraine Whoriskey, Melissa Sweeney and Gemma Leigh Diver (all nices of the bride). Flower girls was Leanne Whoriskey, (niece of the bride), and Megan Fleming, (niece of the groom). Pageboys were, Shane Whoriskey, (nephew of the bride), and Patrick James Fleming, (son of the couple). The solost was Paula Diver and she was accompanied on guitar by Pat Gallagher. The offertory gifts were brought to the altar by: Patrick and Kathleen Fleming (parents of the groom), and Annie Diver (mother of the bride) and Cornelius Diver, (brother of the bride). Following the ceremony the newly wed couple were brought to An Chúirt Hotel, in a white carriage drawn by four white horses. The honeymoon was spent in the Carriebean. Kathleen and Colin are wished all the best and happiness for the future.
Seoid na nOileán Exhibition: Artists from the small Donegal Islands have been invited to exhibit their work during Oireachtas na Gaeilge 2009 in Letterkenny. The venue for the exhibition entitled 'Seoid na nOileán' will be the Regional Cultural Centre, Port Road , Letterkenny. Artists from Inis Fraoigh, Gabhla, Inis Bó Finne, Oileán Ruaidh and Inis Mhic an Doirn will take part in the exhibition which will commence on Tuesday, October 27. Month's Mind Mass: The month's mind mass for the late Peggy McNeilis, Middletown, Derrybeg, will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Derrybeg on this Friday, 25th September at 7pm.
Social Night for Fr. Pat: A social night with music and buffet will be held in honour of Fr. Pat Clarke, will be held in Teach Mhicí, Derrybeg, this Saturday. Fr. Pat has spent most of his life working with the street children in Brazil, and he will be in attendance at the event. During the course of the night Fr. Pat will draw the winners of the draw with prizes of hampers and other prizes. This draw was organised by Máire (Owen Ellen) Boyle, Cotteen, with help from her family. Everyone is welcome to come along for a great night's craic.
Fr. Pat will speak at all the masses in Derrybeg over the weekend.

Winnie Ferry: The death occurred last week of Mrs, Winnie Ferry, Moneybeg, Dunlewey. Winnie who was predeceased by her husband, was originally from Ballymore, Dunfanaghy. A member of the Harkin family, she was aged eighty four years. Known locally as a kind and gentle woman, her death is deeply regretted. She was waked at her home in Moneybeg. Her funeral mass was celebrated in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Dunlewey on Sunday and afterwards she was interred in the adjoining cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Agnes, a brother and sister, family circle, relatives and friends.
Sympathy: The death occurred at Letterkenny general Hospital on Friday last of Mr. Charlie McBride, Falbane, Churchill. Aged 64 years, he was involved in a traffic accident which occurred at Dunlewey the previous Sunday. He is survived by his wife, Catherine, seven daughters and two sons. His son, Cathal is married to the former Evelyn Doherty, who has a florist shop in Derrybeg and they reside in Bunbeg. His funeral mass was celebrated in Temple Douglas Church on Sunday and afterwards he was laid to rest in St. Colmcille Cemetery in Glendowan.
