Over €12,000 raised for Fr. Pat: On a visit to the parish recently was Fr. Pat Clarke, who works with the street children in Brazil. Miss Máire Boyle, Cotteen and her sister, Nellie Coll, Manchester and Carrigart have been spearheading a fundraising campaign to assist Fr. Pat with his work in Brazil.
The proceeds from car boot sales and raffle organised by them amounts to €6,114. 68; the sum collected during the weekend church collections and donations amounts to €6,273. 34, making a grand total of €12,388. 02. Máire Boyle would like to thank al
l the people who gave donation of clothes, toys, toiletries for the car boot sales. She would also like to thank all the people who helped her; friends and family and everyone who bought tickets, gave donations and paid at masses during the weekend. A special word of thanks to Fr. Sweeney, P.P., Nóra and all the priests of the parish for their help in raising funds for this worthy cause. She would also like to thank Teach Mhicí, and the group from an Chrannóg, 'An Crann Óg' also the band who performed at the social night on Saturday last, also Paddy Cullen and family from Carrigairt who gave their services free of charge. A draw for the fund which was organised by Máire took place on Saturday night and the winners were: 1st, (hamper): Marian Curran, Gortahork, 2nd, (hamper): John Greene, Carrick, Derrybeg. 3rd, (hamper), Bríd McBride, Coshclady, Bunbeg, 4th, (baby hamper): Áine Ní Rabhartaigh, Dunlewey, 5th, (throw over – double): Patricia Diver, Magheraclogher, 6th, (bottle of whiskey): Mary Coll, Middletown, Derrybeg, 7th, (wine), Willie Mhicí Gallagher, Teach Mhicí, Derrybeg, 8th, (bottle liquer), Bridget Duffy, Carrigairt, and 9th, (bottle of wine), Lily Lynagh, Carraigairt.
Seoid na nOileán Exhibition: Artists from the small Donegal Islands have been invited to exhibit their work during Oireachtas na Gaeilge 2009 in Letterkenny. The venue for the exhibition entitled 'Seoid na nOileán' will be the Regional Cultural Centre, Port Road , Letterkenny. Artists from Inis Fraoigh, Gabhla, Inis Bó Finne, Oileán Ruaidh and Inis Mhic an Doirn will take part in the exhibition which will commence on Tuesday, October 27. Whist Drive: At the whist drive held in Scoil Mhuire, Derrybeg on Monday 5th October, Mary Mulligan, Magheraclogher, with a score of 174 points, won top score prize. First lady's prize, with a score of 168 points, was won by Kathy Mulhern, Gortahork, and second lady's prize, with a score of 165 points, went to Mary O'Donnell, Dungloe. First gent's prize, with a score of 172, was won by Brian Harkin, Gortahork, while second gent's prize, with 170 points, went to Charlie Sweeney, Prochais.

Thanks: The organisers of the recent collection in aid of Mental Health
Ireland wish to thank everyone who contributed. The sum of 557 euro was collected.

Month's Mind Mass: The month's mind mass for the late Muiris O'Donnell, Loch Achair, Crolly, will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Derrybeg on Saturday 17th October at 7pm.

Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Máire (John Beag) Coll, Derrybeg on the death of her uncle, Danny Sweeney, Gortahork, which occurred at University Hospital, Galway last week. Better known as Danny John Eoin, he was aged ninety years. A former national school teacher, he spent many years as principal of Cashel na gCorr NS, in Gortahork. He is survived by three sisters and a brother. His funeral took place to Gortahork cemetery on Fridayday following Requiem Mass in the Church of Christ the King.

St. Padre Pio's Mass: The monthly mass in honour of St. Padre Pio will be celebrated in St. Mary's Church, Derrybeg this Friday evening at 7.00pm.
