Horn Head
25 September 2008
This is a towering headland on the northwest coast of Donegal. It has a vista over some of the county’s most spectacular coast.
Yhe bird life is amazing, and it is covered with bog and heather, the cliffs are around two hundred metres high, and all in all it take your breath away.
You go by bike or car from the Falcarragh end of Dunfanaghy. The road cirles the headland - it is best to go clockwise. On a fine day you can see Tory, Inishboffin, Inishdooey, Sheep Haven Bay and the Rosguill peninsular, Malin Head and even the Scottish coast.
In bad weather the route is perilous!
This is Ireland. I felt like I could lie there and become one with the ground, the sea, the sky. Take root and never have a care again.
Caed mile fail faud.
