For the second time in a week Loreto Secondary School, Letterkenny were represented in an Ulster Girls semi-final.

This game in Omagh promised to be an exciting affair and it lived up to its expectations.

The game started as a high tempo affair with both teams attacking in the first 10 minutes. However, it was Sacred Heart, Newry, who opened the scoring,
but Loreto struck next with a couple of well taken points by Marion Doherty and Rose Boyle. Sacred Heart, to their credit, dusted themselves down with a couple of points but Loreto settled into the game and put two goals past the Sacred Heart defence.

In the second period of the first half it was Loreto's Marion Doherty who added her side's third and fourth goals while a further goal followed from Dara Kelly. Sacred Heart could only manage was four points and a goal from all their hard work, leaving the half-time score 5-3 to 1-4 in favour of Loreto.

A very determined Sacred Heart came out in the second half and they started to get into their stride, with two unanswered points. Loreto's goalkeeper Laura Crawford made a number of superb saves to deny Sacred Heart; full-back Nicole McLaughlin and left-half-back Catherine Boyle were also very impressive in defence and set up numerous attacking chances. In the dying minutes of the game it was Sacred Heart who added a goal and two points, but Loreto held on.

Loreto Secondary School will now play in the Ulster final for the first time in over five years, where they will meet St Paul's, Bessbrook. Date and venue to be decided.
