Work is continuing on refurbishing Letterkenny's long established skittle alley, members of the Town Council have been told.
In an update from Town Development Officer, Ciaran Martin, he said the project, which included new cleaning, planting and
lighting, was being developed in conjunction with Tidy Towns committee and the local Skittle group.
He said the alley had a long history in the town, was a popular attraction during last summer’s local reunion and the project “will look well after it is finished.”
He also updated members on the community garden scheme.
Mr Martin said the project was aimed at bringing the various community groups, such as youth, education and senior citizens groups, together and to work on personal development.
“There had been a lot of work on personal development and the Town Council gave their support. That work is ongoing. The beds are ready and they are now getting ready for planting,” he added.
Cllr Dessie Larkin said he welcomed the retention of the skittle alley and also the recent visit to the community garden by celebrity chef, Richard Corrigan.
Cllr Ciaran Brogan also welcomed the update and the officer was “working hard in every aspect to promote Letterkenny.”
Cllr Jimmy Harte said the report from the Development Officer was helpful, showed the good work being done in the community and they should receive regular updates from him through out the year.
