The Labour Party is set to select Frank McBrearty Jnr to contest the Donegal South-West by-election.
The county councillor is the only candidate nominated for the party’s convention to select a candidate which will be held tomorrow night in Jackson’s Hotel in Ballybofey.

Labour MEP for Ireland South, Alan Kelly, will chair the convention.

A by-election has yet to be called but Fine Gael will hold its convention for the by-election on February 15. The by-election has been made necessary by Pat ‘the Cope’ Gallagher’s election to the European Parliament last year.
